Oakmont Market is a compact yet well-curated neighborhood market tucked into Cupertino’s Homestead Road corridor. While it isn’t a sprawling grocery store, what it lacks in size it makes up for with a thoughtful selection of everyday groceries, fresh produce, and specialty items, especially catering to those seeking Eastern European goods alongside typical market staples.

The atmosphere here is straightforward and approachable—think small local market with a friendly community vibe rather than a big commercial chain. Locals appreciate the range of fruits and vegetables that often go beyond the usual offerings, with seasonal highlights like mangoes and some rarer finds such as sour cherries and unique apricot and peach varieties sourced from different regions. This variety appeals particularly to home cooks who enjoy experimenting or those looking to bring a bit of their heritage into their kitchen.

Oakmont Market’s staff play a significant role in shaping the experience. Regular shoppers often note the warm, personable service—there’s a genuine friendliness that can brighten your quick grocery run. For example, one cashier’s welcoming smile frequently receives special mention, making the visit feel more like dropping into a neighbor’s shop than just running errands.

This market is best visited during weekday mornings or early afternoons when fresh produce is typically well stocked, and the pace is relaxed. It suits those who want more than just basics: families grabbing their weekly fruits and vegetables, individuals searching for specific ethnic ingredients, or anyone appreciating fresh bread and dairy products like farmers cheese and buttermilk.

While it might not replace a larger supermarket for bulk shopping, Oakmont Market fits comfortably into the routine of locals prioritizing quality, specialty produce, and a friendly checkout experience within a walkable neighborhood setting. It’s a practical stop for nearby residents and anyone in Cupertino looking for reasonable prices paired with a bit of local character.

Great neighborhood market with many varieties of produce at great prices. In season, their mangoes are really fantastic. Great price on green onions and everything, really. Special shout out to one of their cashiers, Miranda, who will absolutely light up your day if you get to see her smile. She’s one of a kind and I always hope she will be there when I come in.

Nice shop, fruits are really nice. Farmers cheese was with a mold a couple of times before its expiration date, but otherwise nice shop with a lot of Eastern European goods

Love this place! Come here for the 1st time. Love the varieties n choices for produce available. Different types of apricots n peach form different regions. Larger than average selection of fruits n vegetables. Was very impressed that they have sour cherry ( good for gout). I don't see that too often. Too bad I live in East bay. Or else this will be my go to produce market.

Oakmont is a GREAT store, packed with fantastic foods from the Middle East and Eastern Europe. It's not fancy, but it's clean, well-organized and well-stocked -- and has THE BEST produce. Produce prices less than Safeway, more choices and much better availability. Things I've noticed: figs when no other store has them, many kinds of peppers, five types of pears, all sorts of root vegetables, a bag of fresh-peeled garlic cloves for under $2, various beans, guava, the best berries, plus all the usual things like apples, bananas etc. Fresh herbs are a highlight, way WAY less than Whole Foods, and not in a plastic box. It's the first place to try if you need an uncommon ingredient -- they rescued me from a fennel emergency once. A lot is locally grown; new things go in and out all the time. You can find most staples (except meat/fish counter, no alcohol), just not in the regular brands, and with more variety. Such as, olive oils, pasta, canned things, crackers, chips, sodas (not diet Coke), vanilla for under $3, dried fruit, great variety of chocolate, unusual teas, all kinds of bread. There's even a caviar fridge. The inside is pretty small, narrow aisles, low shelves, but loaded with goods. Only two cashier aisles but the staff is super-efficient and fast and keep things stocked and clean. It may look plain, but Oakmont Market is a real treasure in Cupertino.
